Atlanta Rapper Killed

Dolla was shot and killed in front of a Hollywood mall.

According to Reuters, Atlanta rapper Dolla was shot and killed outside of a Los Angeles shopping mall Monday at around 3 p.m. The 21-year-old artist, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was standing outside the shopping mall with recording artist D.J, Shabbazz after a shopping trip, Dolla's publicist reported.

The gunman left the scene by car and police later arrested 23-year-old Aubrey Louis Berry at Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of the murder. Los Angeles police had no immediate motive for the killing though Dolla reportedly had been arguing with a passenger on a flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles earlier that day, the Daily News reports.

According to ballerstatus.com, Dolla was an up-and-coming artist with a bright future ahead of him. A protege of Akon, he began to gain popularity from his moderately successful debut single, "Who the F*** Is That?" featuring T-Pain. At the time of his death he had been working on his debut album, Dolla & a Dream, that was due to be released sometime this year.
