Austrians Unhappy About 'Bruno'
Sacha Baron Cohen's film, "Bruno," which is released on July 10, is not leaving the best impression on Austrians.
According to ABC News, Bruno is a gay Austrian who loves fashion and desires to be "the most famous Austrian since Adolf Hitler." Besides this line in the film, actual natives are also not a fan of Bruno dreaming of "finding a partner, buying a dungeon and starting a family," referring to a true crime that involved an Austrian father keeping his daughter in a dungeon and fathering her children.
BBC News reports that many Austrians laughed at Cohen's film, "Borat." However, the opposite could occur with "Bruno," mainly because natives do not want their country's image to be tarnished. There is also speculation that the character may represent Alfons Haider, an Austrian television presenter.
While Austria's image may be affected by "Bruno," Cohen has already made an image of himself in promoting the film, by appearing nude on the cover of CG magazine, according to Access Hollywood.
