'The Avengers' filming is underway

Filming for the upcoming film The Avengers is finally underway. This film where we will see Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye has been a long time in the making.

The rumours about its possible creation began at the end of The Incredible Hulk film where Bruce Banner receives a visit from Robert Downey Jr. aka Iron Man and have since been the topic of discussion by Marvel and superhero fans worldwide.

We know little about the basic plot line for this film, but what we do know is a great enemy emerges, one which threatens the earth’s safety and security. The international peace keeping force known as S.H.E.I.L.D are the only ones that can stop it. The director of this peace keeping organization, Nick Fury, who is played by none other than Samuel L Jackson, assembles a group of superheroes that have never been seen before and charges them with the safety and survival of the entire world.

This film is set to be huge, with each of these superheroes’ separate films being so popular and successful, one of which earning over $620 million worldwide, it will be no shock if it were to break box office records.

With such a star-studded cast and a whole host of award winning people behind the scenes, I cannot see how this film can fail, let’s just hope I’m right. Watch out for The Avengers, due for release in the U.S May 4, 2012. My only problem with this is it’s so far away!
