Boxing champ and American Gladiator's cohost, Laila Ali, and husband, former NFL star receiver Curtis Conway, welcomed their first child, Curtis Muhammad Conway, Jr., on August 26, she announced on her Web site Thursday, according to E! Online.

The baby weighed 6.8 pounds and measured 19 inches long. The baby boy is named after his father, Curtis, and Ali's iconic father, Muhammad Ali, FoxNews.com reported.

Ali, 30, had told Us Magazine in June that she planned to have a natural, home birth. "Although mom and baby are both healthy and happy, there were some surprises during labor that altered Laila's birth plan," her publicist, Thea Ellis, said in a statement, FoxNews.com reported. She declined to elaborate.

"Mama and baby are resting!" the statement read.
