'The Bachelorette' Season Finale
After coming a long way from meeting 30 bachelors, the big day finally arrived for "Bachelorette" Jillian Harris and the final two contestants, Ed and Kiptyn.
To help her make her decision between the two men, Jillian went on the final dates on the show with them in Big Island, Hawaii.
First, Jillian took Ed to meet her family: her mom, dad, grandma and cousin. After hearing that Ed had earlier left the show and then returned, Peggy (Jillian's mom) asked him 66 questions including whether he wants to have children (to which he replied yes). Glen (Jillian's dad) believed he would be thrilled and "do somersaults" to see Ed propose to Jillian. The family then proceeded to perform a hula dance with Ed in order to see his fun side.
Kiptyn was next to meet the Harris family. Peggy grilled Kiptyn with the same questions, and Kiptyn also responded "yes" to having children. "Kiptyn seems more like a free spirit," she said. While no hula dance was viewed for that day, the family did appear to approve Kiptyn.
Ed and Jillian started their date in a helicopter that took them around Big Island. Then they had dinner and ignited intimacy in a rainforest-like setting near a beautiful lagoon and waterfall. Ed invited Jillian back to his hotel room and they spent their last night together (successfully this time) before the big day.
Kiptyn and Jillian took a boat ride to a secluded area on the beach and had a picnic. Back at his hotel room, Kiptyn told her, "I would be really hurt if I lost you [to Ed]." While he couldn't tell Glen he loved Jillian, he finally told her that night.
The big day finally arrived. Ed and Kiptyn picked out separate engagement rings for their proposals before getting dressed in their suits. Jillian wore a baby pink rouched strapless gown. "I have so much love to give," she said before making her big decision.
"First, I have to go through agony, and I have to put somebody else through agony," Jillian said tearfully.
Kiptyn was the first to arrive at the scene, which consisted of many tropical flowers and a bridge leading to where Jillian was standing. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you," he told her. Jillian's response: "I never thought I would say this, but in the meantime, I've fallen in love with somebody else." Sadly, Kiptyn walked away brokenhearted.
"It was so natural from the beginning
.I never had my heart broken before, but today I'm definitely heartbroken," Kiptyn said in the limo.
Which means that Ed is the one
right? Maybe not, because -- surprise! -- Reid showed up in a taxi. Although he was rejected last week, he returned to tell Jillian that he loves her and wants to be the one for her.
"Letting you go was the hardest thing I ever had to do to date," Jillian said. With that, Reid got down on one knee and proposed to her. However, after much confusion about who to choose and receiving some advice from host Chris Harrison, Jillian finally decided to keep her decision of being with Ed.
"We've gone through all the bumps and bruises of a conventional relationship, and I'm in love with her," Ed said before meeting her. When the time arrived, he told her, "You have no idea how much you've impacted me, how you've changed me as a man and how've you changed my priorities." Then he asked her if she loves him.
Jillian responded, "There is no doubt in my mind that I am madly in love with you, and I love you so much." After a happy embrace, Ed proposed to her and she replied with a smile, "Absolutely." After more embraces, she jumped on his back and they ran off the bridge laughing, thus ending this season's "The Bachelorette."
