The Bachelor's Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas Have Officially Split

People magazine has confirmed that The Bachelor's Matt Grant and ex-fiancee, Hollywood actress Shayne Lamas have parted ways.

Though neither party elaborated much, the two said in a statement to People, "We tried hard to make it work, but we realized that we were both heading in different directions. We truly care about each other and will remain close friends."

Ever since their televised engagement, Grant, 27, and Lamas, 22, have had a somewhat rocky relationship as their courtship was plagued with reports of trouble and dislike.

One month after the news broke out, Grant moved out of Lamas's apartment, saying they both need space and he needs to have his own circle of friends. "This stuff makes us stronger," he told the press.

In the latest "afterwards" episode about the newest engaged couple, Jesse and DeAnna, Grant and Lamas were featured as guests. They said that despite all the ridiculous rumors, they were still "happy and engaged."

Seems like all the cynical, Bachelor-disliking people were right all along, saying that Grant and Lamas's relationship would be short-lived. Everyone will just have to see if Jesse and DeAnna could follow in the footsteps of the only successful couple from the show, Ryan and Trista.
