Bah, Humbug!
What better way to kick off the holiday season than by giving away your hard-earned gold coins to Ebenezer Scrooge?
Coming to theatres and IMAX theatres Friday, November 6, is Disney's newest 3-D version of Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol," which stars Jim Carrey, Colin Firth, Robin Wright Penn, Cary Elwes, Bob Hoskins, and Gary Oldman.
The film uses the same special performance-capture technology seen in "The Polar Express." Actors performed on an empty soundstage while being completely covered in sensors, thus allowing digital cameras to record their every move. Costumes, backgrounds, and other details were added later using computer animation.
Perhaps the release of this movie is appropriate in more ways than one. "I was thinking about it this morning, how this story ties into everything we're going through. Every construct we've built in American life is falling apart. Why? Because of personal greed and ambition. Capitalism without regulation can't protect us against personal greed," says Carrey.
Maybe everyone can learn a lesson from Scrooge, but until then, let the ghostly visits begin!
