Band Aid... one more time
The originators of the charity effort "Band Aid" plan to record and release a new version of the favorite "Do They Know it's Christmas?" this year.
The original lineup for Band Aid, which included the likes of U2 Singer Bono, recorded the single in 1984 and raised millions of dollars for famine relief in Africa. The efforts even led to the well-known Live Aid concert, a one-day concert on two continents that brought in more than $50 million for charities.
According to CBS News, song authors Bob Geldof and Midge Ure have approached several of Britain's hottest acts to appear on the record, including Coldplay, Dido and Robbie Williams.
"It's definitely going to happen. I'm very excited," Ure told the Sun tabloid. "This project is not just about raising money. It's about putting the focus back on Africa and the problem of famine, which has not gone away."
