Barbie is the latest toy to get a deal for a live-action Hollywood film.
After months of negations, Universal Pictures acquired the rights the iconic Mattel dolls. The Barbie flick will follow toy-based hits "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra."
Laurence Mark, whose credits include "Jerry Maguire" and "Dreamgirls," is producing. Mattel executives Richard Dickson and Rob Hudnut will be executive producers, the AP reports.
Other Hollywood toy based films in development include Ridley Scott's "Monopoly" and Peter Berg's "Battleship."
Universal has released animated Barbie movies direct-to-video, but this will be her first live-action feature. Barbie previously appeared in Disney/Pixar's "Toy Story 2," and will return in "Toy Story 3" in June 2010.
