Even though she will soon be the ex-wife of a basketball star, the producers of the reality show Basketball Wives are reportedly interested in getting Vanessa Bryant on the show.
TMZ first reported that multiple sources are claiming that the VH1 show’s producers are getting prepared to make the soon-to-be-ex-wife of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant an offer to go on the show. Sources close to the production told the site that the producers are prepared to present an “extremely lucrative pitch” to her.
According to Contact Music, the producers believed initially that it would be inconceivable to get Bryant while she was married to Kobe. The sources also claimed that, since Basketball Wives was just starting when they were still married, budget concerns would have made it impossible to offer the type of deal they are preparing now. Since Basketball Wives has now become one of VH1’s top-rated shows, the producers now have the money to offer her.
TMZ was told producers would make Bryant the lead star of the show’s Los Angeles edition if she accepts. “Vanessa has more than enough storyline and would bring the show to another level,” a source said.
Bryant’s divorce from Kobe is still ongoing. The couple reportedly did not sign a prenuptial agreement, meaning that she could get up to $75 million, at least half of the couple’s estimated fortune. She will also receive three of the couple’s mansions, according to reports.
Bryant cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce, which she filed in December. According to the Los Angeles Times, the couple sent out a joint statement saying they “resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately."
