Evelyn Lozada, a star of the hit reality show Basketball Wives is being sued for allegedly accepting money illegally from her ex-fiancé and former Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker.
According to the Daily Mail, Lozada allegedly received $560,000 from Walker after he knew that his prior fortune from his NBA career and endorsements were depleted.
According to Astrochicks.com, Walker was charged with check fraud associated with gambling debts that reached over $800,000. In 2010, he filed for bankruptcy with over $12 million in debt.
A bankruptcy trustee is currently suing Lozada because the money was allegedly received by Lozada fraudulently, reported the Daily Mail.
The trustee also claims that Lozada’s acceptance of the money was “an attempt to hide money from legitimate creditors” and was used “to start a shoe store in Miami, Florida."
Lozada and Walker both deny that the money was used to defraud creditors and begin business ventures. Walker says the money was used to help Lozada maintain her bills and Lozada contests that her business was started by selling her engagement ring, according to TMZ.
Walker recently appeared in court for allegedly failing to make child support and tuition payments for his youngest teen daughter, according to the Daily Mail.
However, a judge said that he would not be able to rule in regards to the hearing because of Walker’s current bankruptcy case.
