The BBC and Nicole Kidman are about to get stung.
According to Daily Variety, "The Others" star and the British Broadcasting Network have acquired the film rights to the bestselling novel, "Little Bee," by Chris Cleave.
Based on the novel, the film will follow a 16-year-old Nigerian orphan as she comes into contact with a well-to-do, urban white couple from Britain.
Kidman will both star in and direct the feature. Gail Mutrux will produce the film with Kidman via a partnership with Mutrux's shingle Pretty Pictures and Kidman's business partner Per Saari.
Shawn Slovo of "Catch a Fire" will write the script.
"Little Bee" is Cleave's second novel to date. His debut novel, "Incendiary," about international terrorism, debuted in 2005.
