Beatles Cast for 'Yellow Submarine' Remake
Beatlemania may have topped out decades ago but that doesn't mean anyone has discarded the potential to capitalize on fan frenzy for the world's favorite Liverpool band. First Across the Universe, then The Beatles: Rock Band, and now Disney lines up its cast for an upcoming Yellow Submarine remake.
So let's meet the band.
Adam Campbell, who made modest appearances in the parody flicks, Epic Movie and Date Movie, is set to play the role of Ringo Starr. Carry Elwes, or should I say George Harrison, might be better remembered for his roles in The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
Dean Lennox Kelly, currently the star of the BBC's Robin Hood series, will reprise the first half of the dream team songwriting duo, John Lennon.
And finally, Peter Serafinowicz, who appeared in Shaun of the Dead and provided the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, will play Paul McCartney.
The original 1968 film followed the travels of the soldier Old Fred as he joined the Beatles on their travels through "Pepperland." This time around, the computer-animated remake, directed by Robert Zemeckis, will feature 3D performance-capture technology in place of the cartoon world of the original.
The film, still in production, does not yet have a release date.
