The Beatles make it seem like they're still together

The Beatles top the charts

On the U.S. pop charts yesterday, The Beatles sold a total of 626,000 albums. Their week begin on the re-issue date of their entire catalog last Wednesday and ended Sunday the 13 according to data complied by Nielsen SoundScan.

Before the re-issue of the catalog on 9-9-09, the total sale of Beatles albums for the year was 635,000.

Comparatively speaking to the bands sales in the past this is a low number. But fans waited until the tentative date to rehear all the magic of The Beatles in crisp digital remastered format.

The Billboard 200 chart did not rank the re-issued albums because this specific chart only ranks albums released in the past 18 months. The individual albums were charted on the Billboard's Top Catalog Album chart taking 15 of the top 18 spots.

As reported on Reuters.com, "their best-seller last week was 1969's "Abbey Road," which moved 89,000 copies, making it the third-most-popular album in the United States."Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band," the 1967 release that often tops lists of the greatest albums of all time, was No. 5 overall with 74,000 copies."

Since the box sets both mono and stereo were considered a new package they did manage to break the Billboard 200. The Stereo ranked in at # 15 and the mono at # 40, both box sets rank as one unit.

Jay-Z whose new album 'Blueprint 3' was released the day before The Beatles re-issues, ranked # 1 on the Billboard 200.

According to NME.com, "Jay-Z has now scored more solo Number One albums in the US than any other artist, even eclipsing Elvis Presley. Among all acts he is in second place, ironically to The Beatles, who have reached the top spot of the Billboard 200 19 times."
