The Beatles: Rock Band
The Beatles, on Wednesday, will be entering the video game world with "The Beatles: Rock Band."
The video game world has been taking a hit from the economic problems of today. The merge between The Beatles and the popular "Rock Band" series created by MTV and Harmonix is their way of trying to break barriers into an older generation of gamers. Also it's an attempt to come back from the 14 percent downfall within the industry through July compared to the same period last year, according to Anita Frazier, an industry analyst for Port Washington-based NPD group.
"If anything could, it's The Beatles," Becky Ebenkamp told Newsday.
"The Beatles: Rock Band" is providing an outlet for the baby boomer and newer generations to interact and bond through technology and "old school" music.
Visuals of The Cavern Club and Apple Corp., accompanied by songs like "With a Little Help from My Friends," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," and "Dear Prudence," will cause flashbacks for any Beatles fan. As for the "Rock Band" series fan, "The Beatles" allows them the challenge of "realistic mode" which makes female audience members scream louder the better you play, which makes it harder to hear the music and "multi-part vocal harmonies" for which The Beatles were known.
The Beatles seem to be excited also about their music coming out through a different venue.
"The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of The Beatles and their music," Paul McCartney said in a statement. "I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from inside out."
