Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles abandons CGI and animation for live-action version.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just turned 25 years old, almost in perfect timing with the Mirage Group's announcement to release a live-action version of the story in 2011, according to Variety Magazine. After 2007's CGI film, audiences expressed interest in a live rendering of the story that revolves around crime-fighting-pizza-loving turtles.

Co-creator Peter Laird will executive produce the film and said it will be true to the original comic books, which were revamped for the kids' cartoon in the late 1980s. This new movie will focus on the turtles' past and history, much like Batman Begins did for the dark knight's story. Characters like Shredder, April O'Neil and Casey Jones will more than likely be featured, but Laird also hinted to a desire to show the origins of Baxter Stockman and the mousers as well.

The story has had multiple film versions, starting with the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. No one has been cast in the movie yet, but online blogs are already buzzing about possibilities and ideas.
