Ben and Jerry's ice cream causes a stir in Vermont

Ben and Jerry's changes the name of their Chubby Hubby ice cream to Hubby Hubbby for the month of September to match up with Vermont's legislation on same-sex marriage.

In honor of Vermont's legislation of same-sex marriage, Ben and Jerry's has changed the name of its Chubby Hubby ice cream to Hubby Hubby for the month of September. Chubby Hubby consists of chocolate covered pretzel nuggets, which are filled with peanut butter. These toppings swim in vanilla ice cream mixed with fudge and swirls of peanut butter. Needless to say, there are those that greatly oppose the new look of the ice cream. The container of Hubby Hubby depicts two grooms perched on top of a wedding cake and behind them is a rainbow. Founders of the company Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield had the company sold to Unilever back in 2000. BNET received a statement from Ben and Jerry's saying despite the merger of the companies "the current social mission of Ben & Jerry's will be encouraged and well-funded." These "social missions" were taken further when the company renamed it's pecan ice cream, for January, to Yes, Pecan in support of President Obama.
