Best Actor from Driving Miss Daisy Is in High Spirits After Crash

Freeman to undergo surgery today or tomorrow for injuries sustained during accident.

Despite 71-year-old Morgan Freeman's broken arm and minor shoulder damage, he remains in good spirits, according to spokesperson Donna Lee. Spokesperson Donna Lee also stated, "He is going to have surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to correct the damage. He says he'll be okay and is looking forward to a full recovery." After being airlifted to a Memphis, Tennessee hospital, the ongoing police investigation of the incident reveals that neither drugs nor alcohol impaired Freeman's driving.

However, not a word has come out yet concerning the passenger and owner of the car, Demaris Meyer. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported as of yet. Freeman did not comment on where he was going nor where he was coming from. The accident, which occurred 30 miles away from his Charleston, Mississippi home, did not involve any other cars.

The father of four is an Academy Award winning actor in 2004 for his supporting role in Million Dollar Baby and earned a Golden Globe for best actor in the 1990 film, Driving Miss Daisy.
