Best Buy to Exclusively Carry Guns N' Roses New Album
If you've heard anything about Guns N' Roses, you know that the band has been working on their latest album since the mid-'90s, which makes the latest news about its release surprising.
Surprising because it now looks like the album will actually, well, exist.
Sources close to the band tell Billboard to expect Chinese Democracy on shelves before the end of the year as details are still being worked out, including the release date.
News also broke over the weekend that Chinese Democracy will be released exclusively with Best Buy, who reportedly paid a hefty amount for the exclusive rights.
There have been thousands of story lines surrounding the release of GNR's new album, but the funniest one (in my opinion) was when Dr. Pepper offered to send a free can of their beverage to "everyone in America" (excluding ex-members of the band Slash and Buckethead) if Chinese Democracy were to be released during the calendar year of 2008.
And then, in June, nine "finished" GNR tracks were leaked online, which prompted an FBI investigation and the eventual arrest of a 27-year-old blogger.
You can also play the first officially released GNR song right now, on Rock Band 2. The song is called "Shackler's Revenge" and is quite good.
So keep an eye out for Chinese Democracy at Best Buy later this year.
