Betty White heads for ‘Middle’ ground

Ex- “Golden Girl” Betty White’s next television appearance will be a guest starring role on the season finale of the ABC comedy “The Middle.”

The offers keep on rolling in for veteran actress Betty White: she has been tapped to make a guest appearance on the season finale of the successful ABC comedy The Middle.

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “In the episode, which shoots next week, White will play a school librarian who confronts Brick (Atticus Shaffer) over his failure to return numerous overdue books.”

However, this will not be the Golden Girls alumna’s only television appearance. She is also slated to star in the recently-picked-up TV Land comedy pilot entitled Hot in Cleveland, which is set to launch this summer, and she also will be hosting Saturday Night Live on May 8.

The Middle, which has been renewed for a second season, stars Everybody Loves Raymond actress Patricia Heaton as an always-on-the-go Midwestern mother. One of Heaton’s co-stars on the show is Chris Kattan, who was a part of Saturday Night Live’s cast from 1995 to 2003, creating such memorable characters as Mango the exotic dancer as well as one half of the Butabi Brothers with fellow SNL cast member Will Ferrell. The popularity of their duo spawned the 1998 comedy “A Night at the Roxbury.”

Meanwhile, White’s past credits include starring in several episodes of the Fox sitcom That 70s Show; in the 2003 comedy Bringing Down the House opposite Steve Martin, Queen Latifah, Jean Smart and Eugene Levy; as a series regular on the ABC legal drama Boston Legal; and on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.
