Betty White to Host 'SNL'
Betty White is coming to Saturday Night Live!
White, 88, is most known for her role as dim-witted Rose on Golden Girls. In recent years, the gal has proved she still has it, appearing in last summer’s hit The Proposal and in a Snickers Super Bowl commercial, where she got tackled. Talk about living life to the fullest!
White will host the show on May 8, NBC confirms.
SNL’s executive producer Lorne Michaels said that he has “always wanted” White to host the show, and was motivated to get her on after nearly half a million fans joined a Facebook group, “Betty White to Host SNL (please?)!”
"It took on a groundswell," Michaels explained to USA Today of the fan movement. "It isn't something we would have said no to," but the campaign "validated that, 'Oh, that'd be fun.' ... It was the outpouring of affection from fans, and we feel the same way."
White will host the Mother’s Day episode. However, this isn’t the first time she’s been asked to host.
"Years ago, I turned it down three times," she said. "It's so New York, and I'm not New York at all. But my agent said he'd divorce me if I didn't do it, and I love my agent."
