Beyonce Is # 1 on the Charts

These days, we don't see too many albums sell well. Some artists have proven appeal though, and Beyonce has debuted at the top spot on the Billboard charts for the third time in a row. Her new to disc album is titled I Am . . . Sasha Fierce, and dropped 482,000 in its first week of sales. With numbers like that in only a week, she seems a sure shot to go platinum.

Beyonce wasn't the only major artist to release a new album last week. She beat out Nickelback and David Cook, who won the most recent American Idol, for the number one spot. Altogether, the three albums sold well almost 1.5 million albums, not including whatever digital sales were clocked.

While the album business is in a slump, it seems some artists still can command some serious sales.
