It has been confirmed that mega pop star Beyoncé and Hollywood actor Russell Crowe will play love interests in the upcoming remake of the classic movie, A Star is Born.
Talk about an odd couple.
The movie is a modern retelling of the story, in which a young woman who has just entered show business falls in love with an established male star, who helps her rise steadily to the top. Eventually, his career begins to decline, thanks to age and alcoholism, as hers steadily rises.
This isn’t the first remake of the movie, which has three previous versions; the first version (1937) was a drama and starred Janet Gaynor and Frederic March, the second (1954) was a musical and starred Judy Garland and James Mason, and the third (1976) was also a musical and starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The third version, which featured mostly rock music was the most successful.
The newest version will follow in the footsteps of the last two, with even more musical acts than before. Since Beyoncé is a pop singer, it is assumed that the music will switch genres from rock to more of a pop and/or R&B style.
Nick Cassavetes – director of The Notebook – is slated to direct the film.
