Big Winners Sweep the 46th Annual Grammy Awards!

Top winners at the Grammys

One of the best new artists to hit the R&B world, Beyonce, took home an astounding five trophies at the 46th annual Grammy Awards. She shares this record number with only three other female artists: Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, and Lauryn Hill. This stunning vocalist proved her worthiness with more than one dazzling performance on Sunday night. For the opening number, she accompanied Prince for his 20th anniversary of Purple Rain and amazed everyone. This year, she received Best R&B Contemporary Album for Dangerously In Love, Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for her top single Crazy In Love, and Best R&B Vocal Performance for another hit single, Dangerously In Love 2.

Beyonce wasn't the only artist to shine at the Grammys this year. OutKast collaborated with some legendary artists to produce "funkadelic" performance. Earth, Wind, and Fire joined "Big Boi" to perform the hit single The Way You Move. Also, the unforgettable king of funk, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic made an appearance to join in this tribute to funk and soul. OutKast surfaced again to sing a fanatical rendition of their other hit Hey Ya. In the end, the duo took home three Grammys, which included: Best Rap Album and Album of the Year for Speakerboxx/The Love Below and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for Hey Ya. The awards were well-deserved and I have to say that this has definitely been their best album to date and shows their versatility as artists.

A beautiful tribute to one of the kings of soul, Luther Vandross, was performed by Alicia Keys and Celine Dion. Because of his recent stroke, the renowned singer was unable to attend the awards ceremony. However, he did take home Song of the Year for Dance With My Father, Best R&B Album and Male R&B Vocal Performance, along with Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for his duet with Beyonce on The Closer I Get To You. Luther is one of the greatest artists of our time, and his music has spanned decades. It's an astounding feat to be able to still see his music at the top of today's charts.

There was one victor that was unanticipated this year, and it was the winner of Record of the Year. Coldplay took home this prestigious award for Clocks, and in the process surpassed Beyonce, The Black-Eyed Peas, OutKast, and Eminem. Congrats to this great rock band for winning this most esteemed award!

There were many other winners in the 46th Annual Grammy Awards, and my congratulations goes out to every single one of them. Thank you for a year of music and sound that was out of this world, and I hope that in the coming years you will continue to outshine the all the ones past!
