Bill Richardson Says He Is Still Loyal to the Clintons

Governor Bill Richardson comments on his recent endorsement of Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for president.

According to CNN, Governor Bill Richardson responded to some Democrats who questioned his endorsement of Senator Barack Obama, despite Richardson's close ties to the Clintons.

"I am very loyal to the Clintons. I served under President Clinton. But I served well. And I served the country well. And he gave me that opportunity," Richardson said Sunday.

"But you know ... it shouldn't just be Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton," he said.

Richardson served as the secretary of energy under the Clinton administration, which is said to have given him the recognition and prominence that led to him winning the position of Governor of New Mexico in 2002, according to CNN.

Richardson announced his endorsement of Obama Friday and notified the Clinton camp on Thursday of his decision.

Clinton spokesman Jay Carson replied to Richardson's endorsement by saying, "Both candidates have many great endorsers, but the voters, not endorsers, will decide this election, and there are still millions of voters in upcoming contests who want to have their voices heard."
