Billboard Blitz
When William Congreve said “Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned,” he wasn’t kidding. Charles Phillips, president of the Oracle software company and advisor to President Obama, is finding this out in a very blatant way. YaVaughnie Wilkins, a mistress of Phillips, is a little scorned that after an 8 ½ year affair, Phillips went back to his wife. Though his wife Karen had filed for divorce in 2008, it was after the affair had supposedly ended and no further actions had been taken.
In retaliation of this apparent dismissal, Wilkins had massive billboards posted in New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco. Though the billboards in New York were taken down a day later with it unknown if they were also taken down in the other two cities, the damage had been done. After this, Phillips publicly confessed to the affair on Thursday through a spokesman.
Along with the billboards, which cost up to $250,000 at $50,000 a piece, was a website with eight plus years of pictures of them dancing, drinking, karaoke, as well as dozens of florist cards signed “Charles”. Phillips, his wife, or ClearChannel, the company that operates the billboards, all had no comment on the incident. You almost have to wonder how in the world Phillips would explain this whole fiasco to his wife if he’s trying to get her back.
