Billboard Charts Update: Maroon 5 On Top
Maroon 5's first album in 4 years opened today with a bang, placing No. 1 on the U.S. charts. The record, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, sold 429,000 copies last week, says Nielsen Soundscan data. This is almost four times the amount sold in Maroon 5's last best sales week, when Songs About Jane sold 138,000 copies in one week.
The band has also topped the chart in the digital sales, breaking previously held records by Linkin Park for selling 102,000 copies of its album digitally, as opposed to Linkin Park's 84,000. This week, Linkin Park came in at the No. 2 spot for copies sold.
Other bands on this week's Billboard chart include Ozzy Osbourne at No. 3 for selling 152,000 copies of Black Rain, Young Jeezy at No. 4 for 95,000 copies, Used at No. 5 with a very close 82,000, and Daughtry at No. 6 with 74,000.
