Billy Mays Dies at 50

The spokesman died in his sleep on Sunday.

Television pitchman Billy Mays, most famous for promoting cleaning products like OxyClean and Orange Glo, has died at 50.

Mays was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being found by his wife, Deborah, in their Tampa, Fla., home. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon. Investigators do not suspect foul play, reports the Washington Post.

According to People magazine, Mays was aboard a U.S. Airways flight that made a hard landing in Tampa on Saturday but Brenda Geoghagan, a spokesperson for Tampa International Airport, said that none of the passengers sustained injuries.

An all-day marathon of Mays's Discovery Channel show, "Pitchmen," will air on Wednesday, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Discovery Channel issued the following statement: "Everyone that knows him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth. Billy was a pioneer in his field and helped many people fulfill their dreams. He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family at this time of incredible loss."

Mays's wife has asked for privacy and does not anticipate making any public statements in the near future.

Mays also leaves behind two children.
