Bindi, The Jungle Girl
Bindi Irwin, 8-year-old daughter of late Crocodile Dundee Steve Irwin, will be starring in her own show, Bindi, The Jungle Girl, later in the year on the Discovery Kids Channel. Young Irwin wants to follow in her father's footsteps, who was known for wrestling crocodiles and recently died in the fall by getting punctured in the heart by a string ray while filming.
While on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Thursday, she acted like a natural with the animals, as she brought out a 10-year-old, blue tongued lizard. "This is Spanky, he's ten years old," she said. "I just love animals. My dad really brought it out in me."
A friend of the family and Steve's manager, John Stainton, has said that Bindi's father taught her a lot about animals and cameras, even if she is only 8-years-old. He also said that working with wildlife is a huge part of her life, like "ballet is to another girl."
Irwin also said while on DeGeneres' show, "I want to be like my dad, I want him to be proud of me."
