Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have had a year jam-packed with epic highs, but they experienced tremendous loss on Tuesday.
Us Weekly reported Blake’s father, Dick Shleton, passed away Tuesday night in his home state of Oklahoma after suffering from declining health over the last year.
He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his death.
According to Reuters, Blake thanked fans for all their support during “this difficult time.”
“Your support means the world to me. I love you guys,” he said.
Both Shelton and Lambert’s Twitter handles have been quiet since Monday afternoon, which is quite rare given The Voice mentor’s prolific Twitter activity.
Shelton has also canceled four of this tour dates, including Thursday night’s Rapid City, South Dakota stop. He will also be missing his concerts in Bismark, North Dakota, Billings Montana, and Bozemana, Bontana. However, each stop has been re-scheduled to dates in late March.
Last month, the “God Gave Me You” singer dedicated his American Country Awards Favorite Country Male Artist win to his father, who had been hospitalized just hours earlier with pneumonia.
“Thank you all for the prayers for my dad… Hoping he gets to go home Friday,” he tweeted later that night.
Our thoughts and prayers go to Blake and his family.
