Blige set to Guest Judge on "American Idol"
Fox is not fretting over Paula Abdul's departure. Instead they are welcoming new talent with open arms.
Grammy winning R&B singer Mary J. Blige joins the list of celebrity replacements, serving as a guest judge at the Atlanta auditions, which takes place Sunday and Monday. Blige's spot in "Idol" was confirmed today by Fox.
Victoria Beckham is currently serving as a guest judge at the auditions and Katy Perry is rumored to join also.
It is evident that Randy Jackson, Kara Dioguardi, and Simon Cowell will have a very diverse judges' table this season.
The permanent solution for filling Abdul's empty seat is still a secret. Earlier this month, Peter Rice, chairman of entertainment at Fox, told Reuters that they'll be coming up with a replacement "between now and January ... Obviously, there is going to be a different dynamic, [and] there is something exciting about that."
For now, guest judges are playing musical chairs with Abdul's empty seat.
