"The Blind Side" Makes Hollywood Record

Sandra Bullock breaks a new record for the box office hit, "The Blind Side."

Sandra Bullock’s “The Blind Side” breaks a new Hollywood record, reported People Magazine. “The Blind Side” became the first film to make more than $200 million with only one female star. During the first week the movie earned $208.5 million in sales.

Past films in which there has only been one star actress have not been able to reach the $200 million mark.

Movies which came close to Bullock’s include “Erin Brockovich,” with Julia Roberts, making $125.6 million, and “The Devil Wears Prada,” making $124.7 million, with Meryl Streep. “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” with Nia Vardalos, has been the only other film with one lead female actress reaching the $200 million mark, but in 2002, Vardalos was still an unknown actress.

According to the Warner Bros. president, the film’s box office sales could keep growing.

In December 2009, Bullock was nominated for two Golden Globe awards, including Best Actress in a Drama for “The Blind Side.”

Recently, Bullock appeared in “The Proposal,” for which she received her other Golden Globe nomination, and the box office disappointment, “All About Steve.”
