Blonsky Lands First Role After "Hairspray"
Talk about starting a career off with a bang. Nikki Blonsky, Tracy Turnblad in the fabulously fun "Hairspray," stared in her first movie and was rubbing elbows with stars like John Travolta, Christopher Walken and Michelle Phieffer, not bad. Well her career is about to get as big as her hairsprayed do' was in the movie.
The Long Island native signed on to do her second movie, "Harold." The off beat teen movie stars Spencer Breslin, Ally Sheedy and Colin Quinn. Harold, played by Breslin, is a teenager who goes through life being teased because of his premature aging. Blonsky plays the best friend of the balding teen. Sheedy plays Harold's mother, who helps him to cope with all the teasing. Quinn is a frequent customer at a favorite strip club of the teen. Cuba Gooding Jr. is producing the movie and has the role of a janitor that befriends Harold. The movie has begun filming in Great Neck, New York, which happens to be Blonsky's hometown.
