Bob Dylan to make Christmas Album

Dylan has a little Christmas cheer.

It has been reported that songwriting folk legend Bob Dylan will be producing a Christmas album this year, joining the many Jewish-born artists who have made records to please their Christian counterparts. Entertainment Weekly reports that four songs have already been recorded for the upcoming album, including classics like "O Little town of Bethlehem" and "Here Comes Santa Claus."

Reuters reports that David Hidalgo, who produced Dylan's latest hit album, "Together through Life," contributed to the new collection. A quote from Isis magazine stated that this new undertaking was ". . . a personal project of Dylan himself rather than an idea put forward by his record company." Although Bob Dylan no longer subscribes to any religious doctrine, in his heyday he became a born-again Christian and recorded three religiously-themed albums. Scott Marshall, author of the book, "God and Bob Dylan: A Spiritual Life," has stated that Dylan should not care what his "detractors" may think about the new album.
