Bob Dylan Movie Leads Indie Spirit Awards

Bob Dylan Still A Hit With Fans and Critics Alike

I'm Not There, a film bio of the life of epic singer Bob Dylan, won five Spirit Award nominations for independent movies, including best film on Tuesday.

This inspiring movie has several actors representing different stages of Dylan's life and work. It also earned nominations for director Todd Haynes, supporting actress Cate Blanchett, who plays one version of Dylan, and supporting actor Marcus Carl Franklin, 14, who plays a younger Dylan.

"I'm Not There" also claimed the first Robert Altman Award, named after the longtime director of M*A*S*H, who was a supporter of independent moviemaking before his death in 2006.

Blanchett is awe-inspiring as Dylan, and barely recognizable, a feat no actress has taken on since Hilary Swank dressed down as a man in "Boys Don't Cry", which earned her her first academy award.
