Bob Dylan Recording Christmas Album

The Jewish artist has reportedly already recorded four songs and is expecting to release the album this holiday season.

Bob Dylan will join the ranks of other Jewish artists to record and release a Christmas album.

BullyPulpit.com reports that the album existed and the songs "Here Comes Santa Claus," "I'll Be Home For Christmas," "Must Be Santa" and "O Little Town Of Bethlehem" have already been recorded. Billboard has also confirmed the album's existence. The original report said that recording sessions have happened at Jackson Browne's studio in Santa Monica, Calif.

Jewish artists Phil Spector, Neil Diamond and Irving Berlin, who wrote "White Christmas," have also recorded Christmas-themed albums. Dylan, born Rob Zimmerman, was born Jewish and went through a "born again" Christian phase from 1979-81, during which he released some gospel-style albums, including "Saved" and "Slow Train Coming."

As Pitchfork points out, if Dylan finishes the album in time for release this holiday season it will be his second full-length this year.

According to Nielsen Soundscan, "Together Through Life," which was released in April, entered the the Billboard 200 at No. 1 and has since sold over 300,000 copies.
