Bon Jovi Has 2008's Biggest Tour

Jersey rockers were the top-grossing act of the year.

Bon Jovi's year has just ended on a high note. Billboard named them the top-grossing tour of 2008, reports LiveDaily.

The band pulled in $210.6 million in ticket sales and entertained 2,157,675 fans throughout the tour. This ended up being the battle of the Jersey titans. Bon Jovi edged out Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, whose tour only raked in $204.5 million.

"The foundation of our success was and is touring," said Jon Bon Jovi in a statement, "Whether it was a nightclub or a stadium, we played each show like it was our biggest show."

He also thanked the fans by adding, "Our fans have been the reason why a second generation now share in this great honor. We thank you all."

The numbers are based on data from Nov. 14 of last year to Nov. 11 of this year and reported to Billboard Boxscore.

Not to be outdone, Madonna came in at No. 3. Her "Sticky and Sweet Tour" brought in $162 million. The Police's reunion tour pulled in $150 million to put them at No. 4. Celine Dion's "Taking Chances World Tour" was No. 5 with $91 million.

As for the rest of the 10 top-grossing tours of 2008, No. 6 was Kenny Chesney with $86 million, crooner Neil Diamond with $81.2 million at No. 7, the Spice Girls and their reunion tour landed them at No. 8 with $70 million, Eagles came in at No. 9 with $56.6 million taken in, and rounding out the top 10 was Rascal Flatts with $55.8 million in sales.
