The Bones crew takes a shot at the JFK assassination

Bones’ “The Proof in the Pudding” reveals the “truth” behind one of America’s most infamous presidential assassinations.

Last night’s episode featured one of the most questioned murders in the history of the United States: the murder of President John F. Kennedy.

Shortly after the mystery of “Who’s Pregnant?” is revealed, the Jeffersonian is hijacked by men in black suits who work for the government and will not allow the staffers to leave. Dr. Saroyan demands answers but gets none from Mr. White who seems to be at the helm of all this.

Their task is simple, identify how a nameless skeleton was killed but do not even try to identify the victim. They also must avoid taking any samples and do not destroy the ones that are provided to them.

Dr. Sweets seems less than pleased with the situation since he was the first to be denied leaving the building. He calls Booth for help while hiding from the Men in Black, but is quickly revealed that he’s being monitored and so are his phone calls. Drs. Brennan and Saroyan begin examinations after some resistance. Mr. White makes it quite clear that they have no choice.

Dr. Saroyan can’t seem to focus too well as she worries that Michelle is pregnant and is anxious to “go home and [kill her].” Shortly after Angela reveals to her that she’s the one who’s pregnant. Saroyan sighs heavily with relief but congratulates, and apologizes to, Angela. Angela begins her trek to revealing it to everyone in the office to clear any confusion. There is a little awkwardness with Hodgins but he admits to being happy for her.

Booth comes busting down the door as he shoots off his gun and gets tackled at the entrance. Mr. White declares him confined to the building which gives Booth access to the lab and the people evidence that Brennan declares they’re working on the body of the late President John F. Kennedy. The staff all begin their own conjecture. They find themselves at a loss for words as they come to terms with the fact that they’re agreeing with Hodgins and the idea that there was more than one shooter.

Booth does not and cannot believe the government would cover up such a story. The team becomes divided between Booth and everyone else as Sweets and Booth go through a hidden area of the Jeffersonian to get to the perfect replica rifle of the JFK case.

In the meantime, Hodgins makes sure they’re not following them and receives a blow to the back. Dr. Brennan fools Mr. White into giving up his gun and one bullet to try and test the theory they’ve agreed on. Shortly after Booth’s shooting Mr. White enters their lab and declares the investigation to be over. When Hacker, Booth’s boss, calls him and asks him if an FBI agent is being held against his will, he says he is.

Booth still cannot believe the government would participate in such a lie to the public and storms out of the room. Mr. White and the men in black decide to take back the skeleton but the staff refuses and Booth proceeds to take them all down. Dr. Brennan performs her last test and declares to Booth that the body cannot possibly be JFK. Dr. Saroyan has a private moment with Brennan and thanks her for what she did for Booth.

The crowd ends at their favorite deli and all go out their own way. Hodgins and Angela go with their feelings still unresolved. On the other hand, Booth and Brennan walk hand-in-hand as they let out a short speech about the truth. The most memorable part about this episode is the moment just before Hodgins is taken down by Mr. White.
