Bono and Geldof among Nobel Peace Prize Nominees
U2 frontman Bono and Live8 organizer Bob Geldof are among the 191 nominees listed for this year's Noble Peace Prize. This year's nominee list for the $1.3 million award is the second longest in the prize's105 year history.
Although the Norwegian Nobel Institute does not confirm nominees, it was confirmed that 23 are organizations, and nominees come from all over the world.
Bono has been continuously recognized for his efforts to stop Third World debt and in 2005 was named as one off Time magazine's "Persons of the Year."
Geldof has also worked to cancel Third World debt and has organized concerts to bring attention to the massive poverty in Third World nations.
A five-member committee picks the peace prize winner, which will be announced in October.
