Bono asks President to Tithe More
Bono asked President Bush to donate more of the federal budget to the poor.
U2 front man Bono urged President Bush on Thursday to give an additional 1 percent of the federal budget to the poor.
The Roman Catholic rock star spoke to the president and first lady, Congress members, and Cabinet members at the National Prayer Breakfast. Bono placed a white plastic bracelet at each table from the ONE Campaign that fights AIDS and poverty.
The president did not respond to Bono's challenge but did describe Bono as an amazing guy. Bono also thanked the president for his efforts in fighting malaria and AIDS.
Bono has been using his celebrity status to help fight AIDS and poverty in Africa.
