U2 singer Bono’s Christmas Eve music session in Dublin was broken up by police.
He was ordered to halt his fundraiser by an officer who did not recognize him.
"Bono has done his festive busking for 20 years to raise money for the homeless, so he was surprised when the police tried to stop him," a source commented.
The source added, however, that the singer was soon able to resolve the issue.
He was joined at the charity event by Glen Hansard. Both singers sang Christmas carols with locals, with Hansard playing the guitar.
Mundy, Declan O'Rourke and Hothouse Flowers rocker Liam O'Maonlai were also on hand at the event.
Police also asked Bono about stopping the event last year when the crowds became so large that concern was raised about crowd safety.
Born Paul David Hewson, Bono writes almost all the lyrics for U2’s songs. His work often uses political, social and religious themes.
U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. Three years later, Rolling Stone ranked Bono the 32nd greatest singer of all-time.
Bono has also worked with Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Luciano Pavarotti, Sinéad O'Connor, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tina Turner and B.B. King.
