The Boondocks Takes on Adult Swim and Suburban American Life
Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in now taking on a new wave: a black family in a predominantly white suburban neighborhood. Scathing, provocative, and critical of sociopolitical issues, the comic strip The Boondocks, from the mind of creator Aaron McGruder, premiers on Sunday November 7th, on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim at 11 pm EST. An eight year old wannabe thug, a ten year old future revolutionary, and a cranky old Granddad make up this family of misfits that move to Woodcrest, a white suburbia haven that is about to be rocked out of their beds. Taking on issues such as Michael Jackson, prostitution, racism, and political issues, The Boondocks is a controversial and hard hitting cartoon with relatable humor mixed in. The show does have profanity, and is not for young children, or the faint of heart. It is a piece of work which should be and will be appreciated by many viewers while offering a unique and blunt take on mainstream society.
