Boyle admitted to The Priory, psychiatric hospital
Doctors at the psychiatric hospital where "Britain's Got Talent" runner-up Susan Boyle was admitted wouldn't comment on Boyle's case specifically. Instead, they gave a statement on general psychiatric care.
Professor Chris Thompson, the chief medical officer at The Priory, where Boyle is being treated, talked to Mail Online.
"I cannot talk specifically about Susan Boyle," Thompson said, "but any admission to a psychiatric hospital for a matter of days is, in my opinion, a failed admission, because either it was unnecessary in the first place or the job hasn't been done fully."
Thompson also said he read Boyle was assessed under the Mental Health Act, which means there was a "degree of personal risk" and that she didn't come to the hospital voluntarily.
"Talent" producers have said that Boyle is just in need of a long rest.
After the final show Saturday, Boyle reportedly had an argument with the show's producers and collapsed in her hotel room. Police and doctors were called. She was assessed under the Mental Health Act and taken by police escort to The Priory.
