Brad Pitt to Play Billy Beane in New Film
Having read Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, by Michael Lewis, I was rather shocked to hear that it was being turned into a movie.
I was even more shocked to hear the news that Variety is reporting today, which says that Brad Pitt will play the Oakland A's General Manager.
The movie won't be exactly what happens in the book, but Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel will helm the film and Steve Zaillian, whose writing credits include Schindler's List and Gangs of New York, has signed on to write the script.
The reason why many figure Lewis's book would turn into a good movie is because of the large amount of underdogs who are glorified by Billy Beane and his system of beating the high-priced teams in baseball, even though his payroll is a fraction of everyone else's.
A target release date for the movie has not been announced yet.
