Bradley Cooper, Russell Brand, Beyonce Knowles and many others are invited into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

178 filmmakers are granted the right to vote for the Academy Awards

According to E! Online, Bradley Cooper, Russell Brand, Beyoncé Knowles, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Garner, and Jesse Eisenberg are among the 178 people that were asked to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Those who are part of the Academy are granted the right to choose who will win the Academy Awards.

According to Animation Magazine, the invitations were extended to actors, directors, animators, visual effects artists, art directors, cinematographers, costume designers, make-up artists, film editors, film executives, writers, producers, documentary filmmakers, and music composers, and those in charge of the sound department.

"These individuals are among the best filmmakers working in the industry today. Their talent and creativity have entertained moviegoers around the world, and I welcome each of them to our ranks," Academy President Tom Sherak said.

Membership in the Academy and the right to vote for the Oscars has remained at slightly less than 6,000 since 2003.

Those who accept the invitations will be officially welcomed at a reception which will take place in September.
