The New York Times reports that the New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills 25-24 in their season opener, which was on "Monday Night Football." This was Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's first game since he suffered a severe knee injury in Week 1 of last season against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The game, which was played in Foxborough, Massachusetts, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the New England Patriots team and organization. Both teams were dressed in throwback jerseys and several former Patriots players were honored during halftime, according to the Boston Globe.
