Brangelina donates $2 million to charities
One of the most sought-after couples in Hollywood turns out to be one of the most generous, too.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced Wednesday they would be donating $2 million to Global Action For Children and Medicines sans Frontiers/Doctors Without Borders.
"In the most troubled parts of the world - places that much of the world has abandoned, MSF is always there," Jolie said in a statement Wednesday. "I have seen these brave men and women working in war zones and horrific conditions and I deeply admire them."
After their daughter Shiloh's birth, the humanitarian stars donated $300,000 to Namibian hospitals for supplies. In addition, they also sent the $4.1 million they received for the first published photos of Shiloh to charity.
"Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying," said Jennifer Delaney, the U.S. director for Global Action for Children.
Pitt will be shooting "The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons" in New Orleans, where the winner of his architecture competition will begin constructing environmentally friendly homes and buildings.
