Breaking Dawn May Be Two Movies
Chris Weitz, director of "New Moon," may get the chance to work with the teen-vampire stars again. And not just once more, but possibly on two movies. Summit Entertainment said it was Weitz's job if he wants it, according to a report in Variety. Summit wants to split the final book into two movies and film them back-to-back.
Melissa Rosenberg, who has adapted the first three "Twilight" books into movies, would be likely to adapt the fourth installment into two different films. Before anything can happen, though, "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer must first approve of the decision to split "Breaking Dawn" into two films.
Some of the obstacles with splitting "Breaking Dawn" into two separate films is that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner are signed up for a four film contract, and to do five films will mean they would have to reopen negotiations with the stars. According to Variety, in the new contract the actors could get payments in the eight-figure range because of the commercial success of "New Moon."
Nothing has been decided yet, but Weitz said that he would be interested in directing another film in the "Twilight Saga."
