Breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate reaches out to Giuliana Rancic to provide support

E! News host, Giuliana Rancic, has just revealed that her doctors have detected that she has breast cancer.

Now another famous woman who has been through the same experience, Christina Applegate, is reaching out to Rancic for support.

Three years ago, Applegate found out she was in the early stages of cancer. “I’m here for her,” said Applegate told E! News. "I know that journey so well, how that feels [to get] that phone call. I get what's she's going through."

While she has been deemed “100 percent clear” of breast cancer in August, 2008, Rancic is just starting out on her journey. “I've been keeping this secret from a lot of dear friends for a while now, and it's nice to get it out there and not hide anymore," she told fellow E! News anchor, Ryan Seacrest.

People reports that Rancic will undergo a lumpectomy and several weeks of radiation. "I started realizing I could be an example for women to not just be aware of breast cancer, but to act on it,” she said.
