Bret Michaels speaks out after Tony accident

Poison's Bret Michaels releases a statement in reference to his disastrous tumble during his performance at Sunday's Tony Awards.

Poison front man Bret Michaels has released an official statement regarding his Tony Awards calamity, where he slammed his head on a stage prop during a performance of "Nothin' But a Good Time" with the cast of "Rock of Ages."

According to an article on RollingStone.com, Michaels said the moving set piece was not discussed at his morning rehearsal. He was also not told that he had limited time to clear the stage, 'Otherwise believe me I would have stopped or at least ducked so as not to be knocked out at the Tonys.' As a result, The rock star ended up with a broken nose and a busted lip.

He instantaneously felt his nose, mouth and the back of his head go numb, Michaels said.

Michaels later thanked Liza Minnelli and "Ugly Betty" cast member Mark Indelicato for checking up on him in his dressing room.

Michaels contends that the Tonys' public statements saying that he was unharmed and merely "missed his mark" were "irresponsible."

Yet, according to an article from the Associated Press, the Poison front man is trying to remain positive about everything that went on. Michaels also regrets the attention his misfortune received and how he was bummed about missing the after-parties.
